"If you build it, they will come." In the wild, this famous quote would tell the story of nature's master builder, the American Beaver. Only a couple of years ago there was no pond here. But once our ambitious pair of beavers drove the first tree branch into the murky bottom soil, a new habitat that would cater to their survival needs was created. No sooner did the water behind the new dam start to rise when other animals living nearby or flying overhead took notice. Before long the pond was busy with life.
